When it comes to building our team, we look for people with an innate passion for service, an enthusiasm for strengthening the industry and bringing fresh ideas to the table that can help us grow as a company. These are some of the people that redefine our evolving company culture and embody the Marbella Club philosophy.
Name: Marta León
Title and department: Groups and Events Coordinator
Time working at the Marbella Club: 2 years
How did you end up at the Marbella Club and why did you want to work here?
It was actually a coincidence. I was looking for new job options and it just happened that they contacted me because there was a job opening at the hotel, so I gladly accepted! Who wouldn’t want to work for the best hotel in the Costa del Sol! It was a unique opportunity to become part of a place as emblematic as the Marbella Club.
What do you like most about your job and why?
I like that, although I’m generally in the office liasing with clients, there are parts of my job that allow me to be directly involved with hotel operations and with the various people working at the hotel. This has helped me to make great friends with people from outside of my department. I also like at the end of a wedding or event or after a group has checked out and you can see that everything has gone perfectly and that is reflected in the client’s feedback. It’s one of the most gratifying parts of my job.
Since you’re so frequently in touch with guests, what would you say surprises guests the most about the hotel? What’s the thing that you most like to point out about the hotel?
They’re typically very pleasantly surprised about the hotel’s history and how it helped to shape Marbella as a destination.
I like to point out that Prince Alfonso von Hohenlohe’s legacy is directly linked to the fact that the hotel remains one of Spain’s most important hotels, and that we’re still a reference in this part of the world.
In the time you’ve been here, what would you say has been your all-time favourite moment?
I honestly don’t have a favourite moment. Each day is different and I’ve been lucky enough to experience great things. From my day-to-day with wonderful colleagues who have turned into real friends, to the “thank you” that we receive after a wedding or group.
If you could spend a day working in a different area of the hotel, which would it be and why?
I would spend a day with Guest Relations because of how closely they relate to the client.
What is your favourite place in the hotel? And in Marbella?
I have a few: To me, El Patio is a magical place; BelAir and Villa Añil are my favourite villas, and the views from Villa del Mar’s garden.
I don’t live in Marbella so I don’t have a favourite spot, but I do have a favourite thing to do: sit in a chiringuito or terrace on a sunny day by the beach.
