NUTRITION TIPS by AMANDA HAMILTON – GINGER

If you are interested in looking and feeling your best then you may well have noticed our new healthy drinks menu, created by leading nutritionist Amanda Hamilton. Now that the seasons have changed it has been given a fall update, with a little help from ginger.

The unique fragrance and flavour of ginger come from its natural oils, the most important of which is called gingerol. Gingerol is the main bioactive compound in ginger, responsible for much of its medicinal properties. It has powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. It has even been shown to be effective against exercise-induced muscle pain, ideal if you plan on being extra active during your stay!

If you find that you crave carbs or comfort food when the weather gets colder, ginger has powerful blood sugar benefits too. In short, it means that this special ingredient can even help combat cravings.
